BuzzFeed fired White House correspondent Adrian Carrasquillo on Wednesday over  an “inappropriate” messages to a colleague.

A BuzzFeed spokesman told TheWrap the company was responding to a complaint filed by an employee last week when it learned that Carrasquillo violated its employee “Code of Conduct.”

“We are saddened by these circumstances, but we take these issues extremely seriously. We’re committed to ensuring that BuzzFeed remains a place where everyone is treated respectfully by his or her peers,” publicist Matt Mittenthal said in a statement, adding that, “this followed a recent reminder about our prohibition against inappropriate communications.”

The company did not elaborate on the nature of the texts but a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap that Carrasquillo was fired after he sent an inappropriate group text to one of his colleagues and several other employees. The individual said Carrasquillo had been previously warned about his behavior a month and a half ago.

BuzzFeed began an investigation into several of its employees after their names appeared on the now-infamous “S—- Men in Media” list, a recent Google spreadsheet with unverified allegations against men in the media, which also included Carrasquillo, according to Business Insider.

Messages to Carrasquillo over Twitter went unanswered Wednesday.
